Twenty bowlers turned up for our mixed bowls afternoon last Sunday to raise funds to send our Ladies Pennant teams to Terrigal next month for the State playoffs. It was a most successful afternoon with everyone enjoying the bowls matches in the sun.
The Ladies are now close to having raised enough money for their trip, and they have one more bowls day at Stockinbingal on Sunday, August 6 to complete their fundraising efforts.
Results of last Sunday’s matches are as follows:
Brian Madden and David Walker defeated Tom Apps and Warren Chesworth with a score of 20 to 14.
Terry Ricketts and Brian Gibson defeated Shane McKellar and Alan Tobin with a score of 29 to 19.
Ann Larsen, Bob Martin and Di Walsh drew with Robyn Apps, John Balcomb and Heather Martin with a score of 10 all.
Jenny Ricketts, Tony Zervos and Cary Peters defeated Rod James, Donna Chesworth and Maurice Muller with a score of 24 to 7.
Winners of the bowls were drawn out of a hat and they were Shane McKellar and Alan Tobin.
Runners up were Rod James, Donna Chesworth and Maurice Muller.
Resting Touchers winners were Brian Gibson and Alan Tobin.
Robyn Apps received a prize for her ‘wrong bias bowl’.
The raffles were drawn and the load of wood went to Tony Osbourne. The half lamb was won by Ron Hampton.
After the bowls, Jenny Ricketts spoke on behalf of the lady bowlers and thanked the ladies who provided the food for the afternoon; the men who had cut and carted the wood for the raffle; Dianne and Geoff Debritt for their donation of the half lamb and Kelly Daley and Reuben Rycroft for their donations. Jenny also thanked Shane McKellar and Dick and Di Walsh for selling raffle tickets on a miserable day.
