Greg Medway, organiser of the event, said that he was very pleased with the way the day went and has had very positive feedback from those in attendance.
“We had vineyard owners and progressive farmers come from as far away as Cowra and Griffith.” Mr Medway said “They were very impressed by the speakers and by what we are putting together here in the Old Mill”.
“Mr Charles Chong, from X Planet Drones talked about the technology behind Drones in agriculture” Mr Medway said. “No one in Australia has this technology yet, it is very exciting.”
Another area discussed at the Open Day was the development of a coding system for fruit and other produce.
“This technology will involve a sticker being placed on a piece of fruit that will be able to be scanned from your mobile phone.” Mr Medway said. “Information will then come up on your phone to tell you where the fruit was grown, even down to the individual region and farm. China has a great opinion of Australian produce, so having this technology available will definitely increase Australia’s export numbers, and I believe it will increase tourism to the farming areas.”
“Australia Agriculture Academy is a brand new concept.” Mr Medway said. “We will have education, business entrepreneurs and students all under the one roof, with total integration”.
