On Friday night, university professor Robert Kelly switched off his phone, turned his Facebook and Twitter notifications off and made sure he didn't go anywhere near YouTube or Reddit.

A video of him had just gone insanely viral.
In the now infamous clip, the expert in East Asian relations was speaking live on BBC about the impeachment of South Korea's president when his children crashed the interview, followed quickly by his frazzled wife.
The family have finally spoken about the ordeal in two interviews, revealing that Professor Kelly forgot to lock the door to his study in their high-rise apartment in Busan, South Korea.
It is something he has always done in his six years of media interviews.
"Most of the time they come back to me after they find the locked door," Professor Kelly's wife, Kim Jung-A, told the Wall Street Journal.
"But they didn't. And then I saw the door was open. It was chaos for me."
She said she hadn't realised their children, Marion and James, were in the study until she saw them on her television screen.
Marion marched into the room with such swagger because she was in a "hippity-hoppity mood" after a school party, Professor Kelly said.
In an interview with the same BBC World News anchor who hosted the original exchange, Professor Kelly said he immediately emailed the BBC after the interview to apologise and he feared he would never be asked back on the network.
The broadcaster responded by asking if they could post the clip with his children.
The couple initially declined, fearing their daughter, Marion, and son, James, may be ridiculed, but eventually they consented.
The reaction took them completely off guard.
"There was a mixture of surprise and amusement and embarrassment and love and affection," Professor Kelly said.
"I mean it was terribly cute. I saw the video just like everybody else. It is really funny."
He said the onslaught on social media forced the family to switch off from the outside world but they were also grateful that the reaction was almost all positive.
Professor Kelly and his wife said they were "pretty uncomfortable" with many viewers' assumption that she was a nanny.
"I hope people just enjoy it, not argue over this thing," she said.
Professor Kelly also put to bed rumours that he couldn't get up to remove his daughter, Marion, because he was wearing his underwear or pyjamas, given it was 7pm in Busan.
He was wearing pants, he said, although they were jeans.
In the Wall Street Journal interview, Marion can be heard yelling from outside his study, once again demanding to come in.
"This is my life, man!" Professor Kelly joked as his let his children storm his interview for a second time.
