This DonateLife Week (July 31 until August 7) all Riverina residents are encouraged to join the Australian Organ Donor Register (AODR) to help end the wait for those in need of a life-saving transplant.
Less than a third of Australian adults are on the national register, despite a majority of Australians indicating they are willing to donate.
Registering a decision is important as it leaves family members in no doubt when making the decision to save the lives of others.
Residents are also invited to attend the ‘What Are You Waiting For?’ dinner on Sunday, July 31 at the Gundagai District Services Club, to learn more about registering for organ donation from some truly inspirational people.
Speakers will include Bob Gilholme from Gundagai and Murrumbidgee Local Health District donor specialist nurse Sarah Woolley.
To RSVP to the dinner contact Paula Butt on 0413 137 601.
People can register online or update existing AODR records via the myGov Medicare online account or download the Express Plus Medicare mobile app.
They can also register online or download a registration form at donorregister.gov.au.
Anyone who previously registered a donation decision when renewing a driver’s licence must now join the AODR.
South Australia is the only state where residents can register via their driver’s licence registry.
