The junior teams hosted Wagga Kangaroos last Saturday for a fantastic day of league- read on to enjoy the match reports.
Under 6s Lewis Shea, Pheonix Daries, Angus Oldfield, Jayden Steele and Daniel Minehan were our try scorers of the day.
Will James and Lachlan Rigg are showing improvements on their tackling with a few great tackles, whilst Landen Vasquez and Archie Quinn had a few good runs and are improving every week with their tackling.
Under 7s Thomas Woodhead, Jayden Steele and Daniel Minehan are showing a lot of potential each week with their attack and defence.
Jonah Allen made a long weaving break though the Roos, running the length of the field to score our try.
Under 8s troops were even lower than normal, so the team had some Boorowa boys Archie Gay and Harry Dymock help out.
Tackle of the day came from Jayden Steele who saved a certain try with his precarious head-first technique into the legs of the Roos boy, bringing him to complete stop.
Under 9s were keen to make amends after their shellacking the previous week and didn’t they what, going toe to toe in the first 10 minutes with neither side giving an inch.
The coaches award goes to Kurtis Schoppema who made a number of tackles- big sis Gypsy may have to run the water each week if he continues to perform.
The boys also had a bonus game against the very impressive Boorowa 9s and to their credit they really did rise and played their best football to date.
Under 10s Roos were too good for the boys, going down 32-12 with tries to Ned Hufton and Fergus Mullen, goals converted by Hugh Squire Wilson and Rory McGrath.
This week is the general bye and we will be training getting ready to play Temora Dragons again at Boorowa.
Under 11s game started at a fast pace and was great to watch, going try for try until half time.
Sam Shea has been improving every week and was one of the best on Saturday, Will Fahey was great at the back again saving tries and strong carries from our own end.
We aren’t far from the top teams; a bit more work on defence and more direction in attack might see us sneak in to the semis.
