The Harden Hawks were made to work all game but walked away with a gutsy win over Boomanulla Raiders.
The Raiders got away to a flying start and led the Hawks 16-0 early, but the Hawks didn’t panic.
They fought back hard throughout the second half, eventually holding out by just two points for a stirring 28-26 win.
Coach Mick Quinn was full of praise for his side, naming Alex Stewart, Luke Stanton, Luke Thurkettle, Nathan Schofield and Luke Brown as his top performers.
Tries: Matt Schofield 2, Nathan Schofield, Daniel Drew, Josh Quinn, Tim Dukes.
The Hawkettes meanwhile made light work of the Yass Girlpies, winning 40-0.
Harden has a few more weeks to wait for the next day out at McLean Oval as they travel to take on ADFA Red and then have a general bye for the long weekend.
The Binalong Brahmans enjoyed a rare spectacle of all three sides at home as they hosted Canowindra Tigers.
First grade had a point to prove after enduring their first defeat in two years last round at the hands of the untouchable Peak Hill Roosters.
Resorting to their trademark defensive grind, the Brahmans focused on limiting mistakes and had their patience rewarded after 17 minutes with a try to Ben Potts, Tim Regan converting.
From here Chris Rawlinson resurrected his famous running, frustrating the visitors with his clever movement, and five-eighth Andrew Swaffield made the most with two good tries.
The half-time score read 18-6 and three minutes into the second half Swaffield bagged his third.
From here the Tigers staged a valiant fight back but were unable to penetrate the hard-working Brahmans defence, wearing themselves out in the process.
They managed a second try but tired legs let Binalong run away with the game, the final score 46-12 courtesy of a fourth try to Swaffield, and three more to Haiden Bush, Henry Paton and AJ Sykes.
Youth League meanwhile battled through a fiesty encounter and were pleased to walk away with a hard fought 32-14 win.
Five-eighth Sam Mercieca impressed with two tries while Dylan Arabin, M Smith and Josh Barker also scored, and Arabin was faultless from the spot.
It was a tough ask for the Jersey Girls as they had their first game after two consecutive byes and were also missing several key players.
The home side opened the scoring but were unable to hold out the Tigerettes, enduring a 16-6 loss for their first defeat of the season.
Binalong have a tough away trip to Eugowra this Saturday.
