MONDAY morning has rolled around again and what a strange week it was. Almost heat wave conditions on one day then cold as charity the next with a cold blustery wind also lowering the temperature.

Go check your tomatoes as I believe there was a light frost last night. Growers of all kinds sure do have to pragmatic about the weather conditions.

Despite a cold wind on Sunday, the tennis club fund raising day was expected to lure some golfers and bowlers to participate in the annual event. Alas, not quite what was expected with only two bowlers and 11 golfers turning up.
Mick Dal Santo was given the bowler’s prize while Godfrey Regan was the best golfer on the day, winning the handicap trophy and the nearest the pin while Dave Bedford won the putting with 13 putts.
The going was pretty rough with quite a bit of “tiger country” around the course. With the sighting of several snakes around the town, finding the ball in long grass was quite an adventure. I believe a brown snake was seen near our front fence and one was observed curled up under the seat at the post office.
May have been the same one, but after two were found at the school recently, maybe they travel in pairs. Another was found on the bowling green a couple of weeks ago.
Fortunately he was the only one on the green. These sightings (all in cleared areas) remind us to be very aware of the possibly of a snake lurking around. And of course, be very vigilant with the pets.

Clive Langfield was more than happy to be able to leave the Canberra Hospital on Friday for a few days at home but, unfortunately he had to return there on Wednesday.
He and Yvonne were also pleased to have a weekend visit from daughter Janelle and son in law Peter Zampin from Yarrawonga and niece Lois Powell from Tweed Heads. Our best wishes go to Clive for his on going treatment.
Dulcie Arabin is out of hospital and home with family and we hope for her a good recovery from the severe injuries she suffered in a car accident just a few weeks ago.

The school staff and students again welcomed next year’s Kinder class for their second day of Kinder Orientation and also welcomed two new year three students.
The School Assembly was held on Monday with the children presenting research speeches and showing some creative and practical arts.
A “sit out time” has been introduced for playground behaviour when necessary. Two time outs in one week will result in the parents being informed.
The school expects to be “re-keyed” very soon so that one key will fit all the buildings - and blinds are to be put up in the infant’s classroom.
The kids enjoyed their time last week with Healthy Harry and this week enjoyed their Hocus Pocus walkathon. The Active After School Communities continue with cricket and frisbees but will not be on during the two weeks of intensive swimming, which will begin on November 10.
The school garden is providing some carrots and snow peas for the kids to enjoy after their hours of planting, watering and weeding. They also now have some miniature fruit trees and they hope to eat the fruit before too long.
Star winners this week were Kaitlyn Daly, Tayla Merton, Alerya Bradshaw and Dakota Hodson.
Until next time (and remember to look out for the snakes).
