The event is set to take its place on the Australian Rodeo Circuit as an annual event drawing competitors Australia-wide, none more so than local seasoned rodeo athletes Troy Cross, of Boorowa, and Matt Darmody, of Yass.
The event will take place at the Rec Club Grounds at 5pm on the Saturday evening of the Irish Wool Fest, October 4. Admission to the event will open to the public at 3pm, with the bar and hot food available along with kids entertainment.
The event is set to host:
- Saddle bronc riding: the original rodeo event where it all began many many years ago.
- Bareback bronc riding: the suicide event of rodeo where contestants hold on with just a suitcase type handle with no control over the horse at all.
- Bull riding: the event was never really apart from ranching where rodeo began, but somewhere along the line one cowboy looked at the other and said: "I bet I can stay on that bull longer than you can" and the rest is history. Now days a bull rider at the top of his game in America can be earning well over $1million dollars a year.
- Motor bike barrel racing: top riders from the motor cross circuit will battle it out against the ladies for the chance to be the quickest and first ever champion at the Gledhill's Earthmoving-Mick Gorham Boorowa Rodeo Stampede.
The rodeo stock will be supplied by professional rodeo stock contractor John Gill & Sons, from The Rock, with a full trophy case of awards for their prize bucking stock.
They had the only bull to ever challenge "Chainsaw" back in the '80s and '90s "Bambi," whose blood lines have since gone on to raise some of the toughest and most feared rodeo bulls in Australia.
Being recognised most recently with their bull "Warchief" for Australian champion bucking bull in 2013 and their high flying sensation "Akubra Suicidal" for the champion of champions, bucking bull of the national finals in 2014 against the best rodeo bulls in Australia.
Be sure to join all the cowboys at the Court House Hotel for the rodeo after party. There will be a band and the presentation of the Boorowa Council sponsored buckle to the over all bull riding champion.
With limited grandstand seating it is recommended you bring a chair or get your seat early, although there will be an enormous amount of space to fit everyone in. Cheaper adult tickets are for sale at Carmody's Newsagency or the Information Centre for express entrance to avoid waiting times on the day.
So grab your Akubra, grab a mate and get yourself down town to the greatest seat in the house on a Saturday night, the "Gledhill's Earth moving-Mick Gorham, Boorowa Rodeo Stampede, Saturday, October 4, at 5pm.
