I am sure many others have joined me in thanking him. Without FoodWorks we would have had very little when Ceeney’s was most unfortunately destroyed, however his recent letter devoted almost entirely to criticising council is uncalled for and simply sour grapes.
The facts are that Mr Hockney had a free hit for three or four years between the loss of Ceeney’s and the start of IGA.
Furthermore he had a well-established business whereas Krnc had an initial cost of some millions to build the store and stock it, so they started well behind the eight ball.
I thought IGA would be the ones who would find it difficult to survive, not the other way round.
There is nothing whatsoever wrong with council encouraging another business into town, if in fact they did. Council has encouraged many new businesses over the years, The Kruger Medical Centre being one of them.
Thanks Phil and Mary for what you have done over the years but a graceful departure from the business would have been the way to go.
Yours sincerely
Ross Flanery
