Best for: Ride the historic Arctic Train on the Ofoten Railway, built in 1903 to haul iron ore from the mines of Kiruna in Swedish Lapland to Narvik's ice-free port. On the round-trip from Katterat Station, learn about the lives of those who built the railway as you journey through a picturesque landscape of green forests, small streams and mountain views. Make time to visit the world's northernmost wildlife park, Narvik's Polar Park, home to a variety of Arctic mammals including wolves, wolverines, musk oxen, elk and reindeer.
