Whilst the course was in immaculate condition and fought back hard, Helen brought forward a very respectable 88 off the stick to defeat Harden's own long time Champion, Jeanette Elliott by two strokes.
In division two, Barb Beveridge (another very familiar with the Course and ex local) has comfortably accounted for her rivals with a seven shot win over runner up Cecile Rhodes from Young.
In the Handicap/Nett Divisions and Stableford category the following Ladies saluted the judges:
- Nett Division 1 Winner - Michelle Sykes, Runner Up Nora Saffioti
- Nett Division 2 Winner Julie Jenkins, Runner Up Libby Plumley
- Stableford Division 1 - Wendy Tuckermand
- Stableford Division 2 - Penny Greaves
Captain Jeanette thanked all of those who travelled to make the day a memorable one.
Parker and Manwaring - Round 1 4BBB Leaders
Round one of the 4BBB Championships was played on the weekend and there is only a struck match between the three top place getters after the first day was complete.
Proving to be too strong on the day were unlikely combination of Bernie Parker and Herb Manwaring.
These two wily golfers certainly knew how to extract what they could from a tough track with a handsome 41 points. Two points back on 39 points and rueing some missed chances were Tam Kennedy and Craig Filmer on 39 points, whilst Christopher Longbottom and Timothy Harvey had 38 points.
Proving the difference was the Individual Stableford played in conjunction. This revealed some very interesting data where nobody played to their handicap on the day. Winner of this event and two above handicap was Tam Kennedy on 34 points on a countback from Bernie Parker also on 34.
Brody Schofield and Herb Manwaring were two points further back on 32.
All very interesting with the last round to play this Saturday. I would reckon that if someone shoots well to their handicap, some silverware could be had.
This Week
Round 2 of the 4BBB Championships and/or an individual stableford for all in conjunction.
Don't forget to book in to the field.
