The Harden golfers will head to Tumut for a 9.30am registration and 10am shotgun.
Harden is in an early commanding position in our pool but needs to capitalise on all of the bonus points for excess travelling pairs if we are going to make it stick.
What we need is for golfers to grab their mate, ring the club on 6386 2483 and register their pairing as soon as possible.
Harden has always been a staunch supporter of this summer inter-district competition and rounds two and three are the points rounds.
The summer stablefords rolled on with a reasonable sized field on Saturday.
In a welcome return to the winner’s circle, Craig Henman produced a round five better than his handicap on a course with limited run after Friday’s dumping of rain.
Craig has had 41 stableford points and did just enough to stave off John Brownhill, who also recorded 41.
John scored heavy on the front nine where Craig finished heavy scoring on the back nine to take the choccies in a countback.
Balls on the day started at John Brownhill’s 41 points and went back to two better than handicap at 38 points. Other ball winners included Mel Brownhill (39), John Hawkins (38) and Tam Kennedy (38).
The Bendigo Bank Hole in One did not go off on Saturday nor did a ball for nearest the pin. It would appear the field was quite wayward on the downhill par 3 this week.
You just cannot be certain who will pop up and take the goodies in the midweek competition.
This week it was Ron Kerr who recorded a tidy round of 27 stableford points around the 12 hole par 24 point layout.
Wily and smart would be key adjectives for Ron this week, as by winning with only a few shots under his par he has limited the handicap damage. He had three deducted from his handicap and will resume duties on 10.5 this week.
In second place was the unlikely quinella of Bill Kildea and Peter Orr who had respectable rounds of 26 points or two better than their handicaps.
Next in were the pair of Bob Martin and Peter Steinke which recorded 25 points.
Special shout out to Ian Bruce who recorded an ace on the 16th hole. Some players never get a hole in one, and from first hand experience it is a real buzz when you do.
Not bad in stableford either to record five points with a single blow.
Volkswagen Scramble will be back on Sunday, February 17, and with a new sponsor. It is time to get your teams of four together and get your names on the sheet.
