Harness Racing
The Young Harness Racing Club has announced a comprehensive program of race meetings over coming months with the first meeting for 2019 on January 15 at Young Showground, Boorowa Murringo Road. For details contact 6382 1235 or youngharness@bigpond.com.au
Organisers remind members of the public that entry to the meetings is free and there are refreshments and live race broadcasts on site.
Family Duck Day
Mark February 17 in your diary for the annual Young Family Fun Duck Day to be held at the Young Aquatic Centre in Marina Street again this year.
This annual event is run by the Georgina Josephine Foundation and offers something for everyone.
You can chase little ducks in the toddler pool or race big ducks in the big pool.
There will be many other activities including a Base Zero rock wall, barbeque, food and lots of fun. Entry is a gold coin donation at the pool gate. Swimmers and sunscreen are a must.
Chinese New Year
Young and District Multicultural Association is organising a get together to celebrate Chinese New Year on February 9.
The event will be held at the Chinese Tribute Garden and participants are invited to bring family and friends and food to share.
Picnic chairs, rugs and sunscreen are also suggested.

Writers’ Festival
Jugiong will offer a unique writers’ festival on March 23 and 24 2019 featuring well-known Australian authors Jackie French, Gabrielle Chan, Holly Throsby, Trisha Dixon, Charles Massy and Sulari Gentill.
Lambing Flat Chinese Festival
The Lambing Flat Chinese Festival is set for Young on Saturday March 30 with full details soon to be announced.
Museum Development
Volunteers at the Lambing Flat Folk Museum are expressing delight at the recent installation of air conditioning at the museum.
The museum was closed for a few days during the fit out.
The air conditioning has been welcomed by all those who work in the building and has made the environment more comfortable for the many people who visit.
Volunteers for Harden
An exciting project to deliver a visitor information centre to Harden Murrumburrah is underway with premises secured and a team of community-minded locals interested in operating the centre.
