Geoff Kruger said 'If you stop annoying me Bob, I will fund the Clubhouse'
- Kelvin Brown
Harden Cricket Club representative, Kelvin Brown gave a wonderful speech, recounting some of “Spacky’s’ achievements.
‘Spacky’ was a well known identity on the old Harden Shire Council and had a bit of a reputation as a ‘larrikin’, according to those who knew him.
One of his most notable contributions to the Harden Shire was his energy in the establishment of the town’s turf cricket facility Tim Doolan Oval, which was essentially a paddock connected to the Murrumburrah High School before it had its transformation.
It is well known around town that ‘Spacky’ got out there with his own bare hands and spread the soil around over many of his weekends.
He then turned his attention to the construction of a clubhouse at the oval and reportedly pestered the town dentist Geoff Kruger (dec.) for funding until Mr Kruger gave in and said:
“If you stop annoying me Bob, I will fund the Clubhouse.”
Mr Brown went on to thank the sponsors of the scoreboard; Copabella Wind Farms, Ross Flannery, Hilltops Council, the Kruger Trust and Russell Muirhead.
