Page has re-entered the Harden city limits with a big shiny medal around his neck as the Australian Over 65 C Grade Champion from this annual tournament hosted at the Gold Coast in Queensland, attended by hundreds and hundreds of the best senior golfers in our country.
Normally just an attendee for the night life and to go tom-catting with his mates, Page has pulled out all stops and played well as he has been doing of late. Look out Harden, will our national champion now clean us all up in the summer ahead. Well done mate!
Bear roars in medal play-off
LAST week I posted the 2018 Monthly Medal Winners and those eligible to contest. Quite a tidy field of the club’s best performers were upon that list.
With a score that would rock anyone’s socks, Chris (The Bear) Hocking has thumbed his nose at that field and recorded one of his best ever rounds.
From memory, Hocking shot his best ever score to claim his monthly medal, and I do believe he has topped it to win the Medal of Medals with an 80 off the stick (nine over par) for a superb 64 nett.
Would have been a handy score this year at pennants buddy!

Hocking not only claims the silver ware for this trophy but also the day’s event as sponsored by Hilltops Certifying Services.
We thank Brian for his support of Harden Golf and look forward to seeing more of him once his flourishing business of Construction Certificates, CDC’s and Building Inspections settles down. Well done to Hocking and his trophy will be available at the end of year function.
Runner-up on the day and only two shots back on a countback from Brett Johnson on 66 nett, was Darrell Cassidy who finally shot a round he was proud of, he just met a stiffer round on the day. Johnson led off the ball comp with his 66 nett, closely followed by a bevy of 68 netts.
Bernie Parker (again at, or about the lead), Ashley Hall and Kevin Hoppe all shot three better than their handicap to claim balls. Rick Preston claimed nearest the pin at 3.01m on the 10th hole being our Bendigo Bank Hole in One Hole.
