Together, the three have 254 caps and 76 goals.

Should all three decide to call time, it would be the greatest exodus of experience and talent from the Socceroos in a generation.

The carrot of defending the Asian Cup in seven months time in the United Arab Emirates could see the trio extend their time with the national team.

But if not, the Winter Olympics host city of Sochi could see the curtain come down on three of Australia's best players of all-time.

"They've had fantastic Socceroos careers, all three of them," Socceroos striker Tomi Juric said.

"But the focus is on the next game.

"It's just one game at a time and an important result in the next match."

Of course, they could also continue on at this World Cup.

Spirited displays against France and Denmark have only brought the Socceroos one point, meaning their campaign is on the line at the Fisht Stadium.

Australia must win the match, hope France defeat Denmark, and record a positive goal difference swing to be assured of progression.

Otherwise, it may come down to goals scored, the two teams' disciplinary records or a dreaded drawing of lots.

The biggest question for coach Bert van Marwijk is the striker position, made vacant by Andrew Nabbout's shoulder injury.

Juric, Cahill and Jamie Maclaren will contend for the position.

Livewire winger Daniel Arzani and Jackson Irvine could turn their substitute roles into starting berths, though the Dutch coach's clear preference is to field unchanged sides.

Opponents Peru have two major injuries to contend with.

Central defender Alberto Rodriguez hasn't trained since suffering an injury against Denmark and key forward Jefferson Farfan was concussed in training on Saturday.

Juric, who seems likely to start in Nabbout's absence based on his two substitute performances, said the Socceroos would be focussed purely on beating the already eliminated Peruvians - while hoping for a kind result in Moscow.

"Fingers crossed we go into the next round with other results to go into our favour," Juric said.
