When a door is closed, they say a window will open. While Harden is coming to terms with the retirement of our stalwart Post Office owners Ross and Lorraine Pollock, we have very capable new faces behind the counter at the Harden Post Office.

Peter and Maureen Blackney purchased a home in Harden two years ago and were enjoying the country lifestyle, when their daughter Mandi tragically lost her husband to brain cancer and decided to move to Harden also.

The family has an extensive business and retail background and decided that the Post office was just the opportunity they were looking for. Mandi would manage the business and Mum and Dad would help out.

“We have lots of plans to expand the business, especially the retail side,” Mr Blackney said. “We have identified that there are a lot of products that cannot be purchased locally, including small electrical items and mobile phones. ”

“We are also stocking those ‘as seen on TV products’ and would love to hear from our customers what they would like us to stock.”
