Played slightly earlier this year with a dry and long-running course, the wily octogenarians were on fire and showed the young whippersnappers a thing or two.
Maurice "Herby" Manwaring and his faithful sidekick Eric Kuhn have channelled their teamwork of 50+ years, focusing their energies and bringing home a fantastic score of +12.
Separately they have scored +5 and +3 but unique teamwork borne of experience has meant that they have parlayed this into an error-free team score to win the day and the trophy put on by Harden Country Club.
Only one shot back on -11 were two pairs who claimed the balls in the ball comp. These pairs were the unlikely combo of Kevin Hoppe and Bernard Parker, and also Ron Kerr and Scott Kinney.
In the concurrent individual par event run in conjunction, Kinney has played to an equivalent 62 nett by recording a +9 score himself.
Nearest the pin on our Bendigo Bank Hole in One hole the 10th, Robert Bates has dropped one in to three foot or 900mm.
- This Week: Men will play a Michael Baldry's stableford, in the Cullinga Mines Gift. Ladies: Club Trophy with an individual stroke/stableford.
