"There are no more visible signs of fire... firefighters have ceased breathing apparatus operations - taken off all their breathing gear," he said.
"They're doing their final checks to make sure there are no hotspots and extinguishing them as they po up.
"They have got all persons accounted for but we don't have any details yet on whether all the beer is accounted for."
XXXX is providing an electrical engineer to check the area.
5.45pm: Fire crews have been called to a blaze at the XXXX brewery in the inner Brisbane suburb of Milton.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said there were were 10 crews on scene - more than 40 firefighters - with police and ambulance also attending.
Firefighters were called to the Milton brewery about 5.05pm, with reports of thick black smoke billowing from the building.
The spokesman said firefighters were trying to access the building and a crew was working from the outside of the building to extinguish the flames.
"We are still waiting for details on the size at the moment," he said.
Fire trucks are currently parked along Finchley Street at Milton, next to the brewery.
A police spokeswoman advised motorists and pedestrians to avoid the area.
With the fire starting in the midst of afternoon peak hour, traffic issues are expected around Milton.
Police are controlling traffic around the XXXX brewery, with drivers being directed around the area.
Police are at Park and Baroona roads, stopping people from heading east onto Milton Road.
Traffic has also been stopped on Cribb Street and Milton Road, and pedestrians stopped from walking along Milton Road.
The right-hand turning lane from Milton Road onto Castlemaine Street was also due to be shut.
