The first day of the event, which is hosted by Balloon Aloft in the vineyard region of NSW, was cancelled due to a downpour of rain on Saturday. Anxious balloon enthusiasts went to bed praying for sunshine and the weather gods definitely came through.
Almost twenty hot air balloonists took to the skies over the Hunter Valley on Sunday creating a stunning spectacle for onlookers.
This was the sixth time the event was staged in the region with balloon pilots coming from around the country to take part.
Organiser Matthew Scaife from Balloon Aloft said the company was excited to fly after the first day of the event was cancelled.
“We have been so lucky with such a beautiful morning today”, he said.
The balloons reached heights of up to 1000 feet and flew more than one hundred passengers.
