After an empty trophy chest following the 2015 season, the Harden Soccer Club has plenty to be proud of following the grand finals played on Saturday. Two teams travelled to Tumut, and both the Kennett Rural 12/13 team and the Bendigo Bank 9s took some great late season form with them.

The Kennett Rural team took on the Tumut Black B side. The best Harden could manage against their rivals was a second-round draw. Unfortunately, the wet boggy field made fast, open football difficult and in the end, the 7-2 scoreline ended their season early. Harry Bunt, Mitchell Brown, Jack Sargent and Hayley Chesworth ran themselves into the ground, and special mention must go to Jasmin Chesworth, Annie Brooker, Taleah Manwaring and Tara Parker, who played superbly all year despite being two years younger than their team-mates.
Minor premiers, the Bendigo Bank 9s, easily dispatched Cootamundra in their semi. The goals flowed in an 8-0 scoreline.
The game started in perfect fashion, with two goals to Jack Brooker and one to Archie Rudd giving them a dominant 3-0 half-time lead. The Bendigo Bankers went to sleep in the second, and saw the lead down to one goal with 10 minutes to play. When a determined Brooke Emms appeared to have scored, the coach breathed a bit easier. However, an offside ruling meant Harden would have to keep attacking. A rejuvenated Isaac Brown scored two quick goals to start the celebrations. The final score was 5-2 to Harden, and the win was a big boost for the club, which winds up with presentations to be held on Thursday at Roberts Park.
