The boys started off well scoring the opening points courtesy of a long range try from Ty Leitner after some good lead up from the forwards. Brody Schofield nailed the conversion and the boys were really muscling up in defence.
Lachlan Campbell scored a good try from dummy half, however a couple of lapses in defence allowed Magpies to score a couple of tries to go to the break leading by two, with the game on the line and chasing their second win the team was confident of taking victory however the boys went to sleep in the second half and allowed for old habits to creep in such as silly errors and lapses in defence which allowed magpies to scoot away with the win, even though they went down the improvement was evident and they just need to put a full game together, Charlie Fogg showed plenty of improvement In defence and Angus Woodhead who was thrust into the forwards showed some of the bigger boys how to run making plenty of metres, final score 24-10. This week the boys will need to be at their best as they take on table topping Boorowa Bushrangers in a weekday clash this Thursday evening at 5pm.
The Harden Automotive, Harden Country Club and Cross Build’s under 12’s league tag team had a big win at Boorowa on the weekend against the Wagga Kangaroos, 40-0. Both teams enjoyed themselves in the wet conditions with our girls attacking and defending with enthusiasm, that has been absent in the last couple of games.
Our older girls, Katie Rose, Connor and Hunter Ings led the way. Good onfield playing was also demonstrated through Georgia Squire-Wilson, Amelia Rowan, Zalie Quinn and Hayley Hambrook.
Harden/Boorowa Court House Hotel and Caltex under 12’s continued their winning way with a gutsy 10-nil win in wet conditions at the Showground last Saturday. The defensive effort shown by the whole team was tremendous.
Richard Kelly had his best game of the year scoring a try and tacking everything that moved, Cooper Cross was devastating in defence once again. Will Fahey as always was great at the back in defence and was outstanding in attack showing far too much speed for the magpies.
Beau Abnet had a gutsy game with a high tackle count and hitting the ball up like he is a lot bigger. As always Patrick Davis steered the team around, Sam Shea and Tully Potts took us forward.
This week is a full-on day where we host Junee in our second home game for the year and seniors are also playing, so if your not doing anything come down to the footy with gates open at 9am
