The company, Transpacific Industries Group - Technical Services Gerroa, has been spreading recycled human waste on several differently owned properties in the Galong area for the past several years.
The company has now lodged a development application with the Harden Shire Council to expand its operations to include a hardstand area were it can store up to 5,000 tonnes of waste for up to 90 days.
The original development did not require council approval, as this was granted at the state government level. At present the company neither stores or stockpiles the material on the property.
This new development does require council approval and it will be discussed at this month’s council meeting.
Harden mayor Chris Manchester said this week that the proposal was causing concern among residents and landholders around Galong.
“It does raise some concerns with me,” he said.
“It is creating a lot of concern among adjoining landholders, especially about the aroma.”
One of the property owners currently using the biosolid waste material said this week that if the new proposal would upset his neighbours and Galong residents he would not be interested in having the hardstand facility on his property.
