First there was former Premier Gladys Berejiklian and her Deputy Premier John Barilaro, this was followed by transport minister Andrew Constance; and most recently former Labor MP Jodi McKay.

But parents across the country were sent reeling this morning when Emma Wiggle announced she would be hanging up her yellow skivvy.

One parent described it as an "absolute disaster" and wasn't quite sure how they'd break the news to their daughter.

I imagine for some it's akin to revealing that the jolly, red-suited man who visits at Christmas time isn't exactly... real.

Those in NSW's Central West will be getting a jolly, and very real, visitor of a different kind in the new year.

Chris Hemsworth (aka Thor - the strongest Avenger) will be paying a visit to Cowra after the region's tourism campaign to get him there paid off.

"Big love to all the folks in Cowra for this amazing campaign, warmed my heart and made me smile," Hemsworth's social media post said.

"I'm off shooting a film overseas soon but upon return next year I'm comin [sic] in hot!!"

Just goes to show what can be achieved when determined people come together.

Dr Kerry Chant, NSW's chief health officer, wants the state to work together to reach the 95 per cent vax rate.

Some might say she's dreamin' but 92 per cent of over-16s in NSW have already received their first jab. Three per cent more doesn't seem like a huge stretch.

Up in the NT vaccine rates have surged following the announcement that mandatory workers who haven't had their first by jab by November 12 would be fined.

The almighty dollar is good motivation it seems, with the territory's second dose rate jumping by four per cent in four days.

Canberra's vaccine rate also pushed forward with the southern territory reaching its 80 per cent milestone faster than expected.

Canberrans will get to enjoy new freedoms - including some retail therapy - from Friday.

There is just two more big sleeps before locked down Victorians will score their first taste of new freedoms - well, those who are fully vaccinated at least.

Premier Dan Andrews has flagged that unvaccinated folk may face restrictions "well" into the new year.

He said only vaccinated folk would be at the 2022 Grand Prix, which is scheduled for April.

"Why would you get the system going, have the thing up and running and then essentially pull down... all of the architecture that you've built, all the infrastructure that you've built and the culture that you've changed, why would you change that four or five weeks later?" Mr Andrews said.

"We will not be doing that here (in Victoria). I'm not going to say to someone, just wait us out, just wait for five weeks and then you will be able go to the pub."

Let's see how Andrews' determination pays off, shall we?
