Saturday, with its bitter icy wind, saw a reduction in field size to the hardy crew who braved the day, and that were not away doing the family Queen's Birthday or cracker night gig.

The event was a long weekend medley stableford and with the combination of the tough, firm track, fast greens and the icy polar blast conditions, it was a tough day out.
In results forwarded to the scribe, it would appear that breaking or even playing to handicap is at a premium at present, with nobody in Saturday's crew able to achieve.
This augers well for a very tough Harden Open in two weeks time, when our course will show its true colours to the best of the South West and visitors already booked in.
Kevin Hoppe won the day and was three whole points better than runner-up, Herb Manwaring.
Kevin, on a rather low handicap, managed to play within 2 shots of that, recording 34 stableford points. Herby managed 31 points and led the ball comp, ahead of David James and Daniel McGrath, who both brought home 30 point rounds.
Kevin's club card has been credited with his winning divvie, whilst balls will be available from the bar if not already collected.
This weekend
We are again scheduled for a mixed medley individual stableford this Saturday and players are encouraged to register their place in the field either via the Golf Genius App or by a call to our smiling bar staff, whom I am assured have been trained in the ways of the App, in order to assist.
As well, it is the final weekend for Dempster Cup round one matches completion. If you still have to play a match, it's time to Git Er Done!
