Riverina MP and Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack visited the school on Friday morning, announcing the exciting news following a performance from Kindergarten and Year 1 and school awards assembly.
Principal of Trinity Catholic Primary School Rebecca Cooper said the funding will towards upgrading the hall with new blinds, curtains, carpet, fresh paint and improving the stage.
"This grant will enable us to upgrade our school hall which hasn't had any form of renovation for many years," Mrs Cooper said.
"It gives us access to funds that we would never be able to raise ourselves.
"For a small rural Catholic school, this is big news and something we are truly thankful for."
Mr McCormack said the funding will benefit the wider community.
"Trinity Catholic Primary school has a wonderful hall which is made available to the wider community for various functions and events, but it badly needs an upgrade - new carpet, painting and replacing the tattered stage curtain," Mr McCormack said.
"An upgrade will provide a fantastic environment for students, staff and local groups who rely upon the hall to hold gatherings which are so important to tight-knit communities, such as Murrumburrah.
"The improvement work, which would not have gone ahead without the grant, will also inject money into the Hilltops region."
Following the assembly and funding announcement, the deputy prime minister met with the school's Year 6 leaders, Tilly Bowman and Poppy Lucas, who are known as the school prime ministers.
Tilly and Poppy explained to Mr McCormack what their job involves.
"They [students] copy what you do so you have to be very mature," Tilly said.
"We welcome people to the school, like special guests," Poppy added.
