The game was moved to the T20 format as numerous Mudcrabs players were involved in the Volkswagon Golf scramble competition over the weekend.
No toss was organised as Mudcrabs were waiting on a number of players to arrive from the pub so they decided to bat first.
Openers Nathan and Brodie Scofield were cautious early against Nathan Anderson and Jeff Brown, often prepared to deflect the ball and run.
Brodie Scofield (3) was first to go when a pull shot was top edged to James Woodhead off Jono Nicholls.
Patty Smith was next to go when Scofield sacrificed him in a suicide run, Woodhead throwing down the stumps with Smith done like a lamb on a spit roaster.
Jake Hogan (1) came and went missing a straight ball from Jayson Smith.
Stadtmiller rolled to the pitch and quick singles were never going to be the go, at this point Scofield started to open up and found the short boundaries on regular occasions.
He was given a life when a simple catch ballooned out to Robert Scott who made a meal out of it bouncing off his hands and onto the grass.
Stadtmiller (7) chanced his arm until Scott redeemed his drop catch and knocked out his middle stump.
Scofield finally retired on 82 not out and Mudcrabs 5 for 112.
New look openers Jono Nicholls and James Woodhead came out with intent to get the game over and done with.
Nicholls favouring cow-corner with his slog shots made 13 until he was well caught by Patrick Smith off Stadtmiller.
Jayson Smith joined Woodhead and together the runs came at a quick rate, often going for the maximum over the mid-wicket boundary.
Both batsmen retired once the score was achieved with Smith on 54 and Woodhead on 48.
Mudcrabs did put down a number of chances due to a long afternoon in the pub before the game.
Rob Scott (12 ret), Jeff Brown (10), Brodie Steele (4 no), Nathan Anderson (15 ret) and Kai Steele (11 no) all had a bat with Hornets after 20 overs 2 for 173.
Hornets progress to the major semi-final against Binalong this Saturday while the Mudcrabs season is now over.
