Hilltops Council has given Harden's Kruger Medical Centre notice but intends to move quickly to secure new general practioner services at the centre..
The future of the centre and its staff was discussed during closed council discussions at a extraordinary meeting of the Hilltops Council on January 15 and follows news that two doctors at the centre had moved to the Cootamundra Medical Centre.
Earlier this month Dr Rezwana Ali and Dr Asif Alam Sazzad announced they were moving to the Cootamundra Medical Centre.
"With a heavy heart we would like to inform that we recently found ourselves in a position where we felt we had to resign from Kruger Medical Centre," Dr Ali and Dr Asif said.
(Hilltops) Council considers the serious disruption to the delivery of General Practitioner medical services at the Kruger Health and Wellness Complex and to VMO services at Harden Hospital recently to constitute a case of emergency within the meaning of S55(3)(k) of the Local Government Act 1993," minutes from the January 15 council meeting said.
Geetanjali Health Service Provider Pty Ltd and Dr Sazeedul Islam have been advised Council will terminate their Medical Practitioner Services Agreement and the license agreement relating to the use of the name "Kruger Medical Centre Harden" with 28 days notice.
Independent procurement advisers will be appointed to assist Council with the urgent selection and engagement of a provider of Medical Practitioner Services at the centre.
Council will also conduct, with the assistance of a third party an expedited process of Early Industry Engagement in order to ascertain the level of market interest, number of prospective service providers, capabilities and risks.
Based upon the results of the Early Industry Engagement, calls limited, selective tenders for Medical Practitioner Services at the Kruger Health and Wellness Complex from appropriate suppliers identified during the Early Industry Engagement process with a seven (7) day response period with the assistance of Morrison Low Consultants.
