In a contest for second spot on the ladder, Taipans (last year premiers) had no answer to a dominate innings by Nathan Anderson who guided the Hornets home with the bat.
As is a regular feature, Hornets captain Kai Steele did not win the toss again and Taipans elected to bat first.
A number of players are licking their lips for two-up on Anzac Day as they will bet the opposite to Steele and are guaranteed to win a heap.
George Walker and Jake Garner opened the batting against Jeff Brown and Nathan Anderson.
Both bowlers constantly beat the bat but could not find the edge. Anderson bowled four consecutive maidens while Brown only had 10 off his first four.
Steele made the bowling changes and could have got instant success if not for some easy "drop catches".
Jack Glover started the rot with a "dolly" bouncing off his hands, which even his mother Karen would have snapped up one-handed and without her glasses on.
This was then followed by Beau Abnett, who must have had Scott Chesworth's daughter on his mind, who let an easy one through his hands which virtually hit him on the head.
Jayson Smith then took matters into his own hands by bowling Walker (8) rather relying on a catch to be taken.
He then followed up three balls later to trap Keegan Doyle LBW for a duck.
At 2 for 28 the Hornets had wrestled back control of the game. Adrian Waters rolled out to the wicket and put on a handy partnership with Garner until Jack Glover bounced Waters (12) and a good catch at fine leg taken by Ben Davis.
Lachie Kemp played a few golf shots until he was caught behind off Ben Davis for 11.
Jack Glover then removed Nathan Hopley for a duck, and Ben Davis bowled Tom Roberts also for a duck.
Garner's innings finally came to an end for 22 when Beau Abnett bowled the worst half-tracker you would see and Garner successfully hit it down the throat of Jayson Smith.
Abnett then cleaned bowled Callum Kemp for 4 and Jeff Brown had Brad Jones LBW for a duck.
Taipans all out for 104 with Hugh Morrison left not out on 23.
Best of the Hornet bowlers were Jack Glover 6 overs 2 for 9 and Beau Abnett 2 for 8.
Shane Abnett opened with Kai Steele in the Hornets run chase.
There was a feeling in the air that this was the day that Abnett was going to tee-off, which would have been the case if he had got bat onto ball but was bowled for 3.
Nathan Anderson joined Steele and looked all class, sound defence and picked off the loose ball. With the score on 49 Steele attempted to flick one off the stumps and failed to connect and lost leg stump.
Jeff Brown came and went for two being caught on the mid-wicket boundary.
James Woodhead held up an end and allowed Anderson to do the bulk of the scoring, there were classic drives through the covers and majestic pull shots through mid-wicket.
Anderson raised his bat for an excellent half century and was finally out LBW for 54 just short of the required total.
Jono Nicholls (8) played two lofty shots to get the Hornets home with Woodhead not out on the same total.
This win cements the Hornets in second place on the ladder for the moment.
