Undeterred, the regulars in a strong but shortened field did battle with the drier elements and vied hard for the Country Club trophy.
In a turn up for the books, Craig Filmer had a sneaky back nine and some solid birdies in his round to claim the day's trophy, the A Grade medal and the Guzzlers Mug with a solid round of 79 for 67 nett. A bogey on 18 proved costly in being unable to push the A Scratch winner on the day, Kevin Hoppe off of his very respectable round of 78 scratch.
The B Grade medallist and B Grade scratch winner was Tam Kennedy, who may start to see his handicap take a U-turn soon.
Kennedy put together an 82 for a 68 nett, only one shot after handicap off the day's event and mug. Balls on the day went to Maurice Manwaring, who had a 69 nett, Ron Kerr (70 nett), and Kevin Hoppe, 71 nett.
Ron Kerr claimed the nearest the pin on the Bendigo Bank Hole in One with tee shot on the 10th. The random draw for a box of brown bubbly goodies went to Robert Bates.
TUESDAY LADIES
Harden's ladies are continuing to improve with every week, and an earlier timeslot is proving popular.
Last Tuesday's winner was Cathy Sanderson with a great 33 nett. Runner-up was a go-between golfer from Sydney, Deb deGraff on 38 nett.
A great morning at Gundagai has been arranged by Jacqui for next Tuesday, with a Christmas luncheon at the Gundagai club afterwards.
Ladies have been encouraged to bring along a lot of golf balls, as the course runs along the Murrumbidgee River - which could be interesting.
THIS WEEK
Saturday's field at Harden Country Club will face an individual stableford.
Midweek golf continues on Wednesdays and Fridays in the morning slot. The Summer Comp is also ongoing.
