The group of 13, which met on November 20, hope to plan and implement several local initiatives to address the ongoing devastating impacts of the drought, water shortage crisis and climate change are having on agriculture, the community and local environment.
"The group would like to look at doable solutions that are available to country communities," chairperson Barb Johnson said.
"The Climate Action Group hope to work with the local council and other leaders in the community to in achieving many of their goals."
Barb is very pleased to see this group of like-minded people come together who have a goal of being proactive and positive.
"We hope to look at solutions that can be integrated into the local government plans going forward as well as run a few independent workshops and projects over time, and as we get more direction," she said.
"One of the biggest issues with this ongoing drought is potentially water shortage and we need to get more creative with recycling our brown water.
"I am hoping we can get some sort of simple system in place with council and create some ideas where this water that goes down our drains can potentially be utilised be used for green canopy and planting more trees.
"At the moment the premier's priority has funds available through grants for Green Canopy which would be great to access."
Barb said the group would particularly like to the local council be leaders in the region in becoming energy efficient and lead other councils to be the same.
"Climate Change has been having a terrible impact on Australia and every little action will help at a local level."
"Ultimately I would love to see our group design a user friendly and community supported model that can be transferred to other similarly populated shires in NSW. "
