Nathan Anderson, Charlie Greer, Jason Kelly and junior Jack Glover all played significant roles in the win.
Hornet's Captain Kai Steele won the toss and decided to bat first. It was 'Groundhog Day' for Steele with the second delivery of the day hitting him on the body before rolling back onto his stumps for a duck. This was the identical delivery and dismissal to his dismissal in the semi-finals last year.
Martin Brown was joined by younger brother Jeff and the crowd was ready for fireworks from the pair, not in their batting but the sledging of each other!
The last time they played together there was an on-field altercation after the oldest brother was run out. However years have matured the brothers and barely an angry word was uttered as they set about scoring runs. Martin being severe on anything short hitting it through covers and Jeff on over-pitched delivers dispatched through mid-on.
A 70 run partnership was made until Jeff Brown did not pick a slower deliver from Brad Rose and a catch was well taken by Archie Gay for 28.
James Woodhead with a new style mullet and pencil mustache came to the crease and swung like a rusty gate, it was no surprise when he was bowled by Bryon Campbell for 5.
Nathan Anderson came to the crease and was all class in choosing which delivery to hit. Martin Brown at the other end was finally out caught by Stuart Gay off Nick Dwyer for 55. Charlie Greer (2) came and went 3 balls later after tickling one to Brendan Sheen behind the stumps. Anderson (41) and Beau Abnett (9) put on a good partnership before both were caught off Archie Gay in the final overs.
Jack Glover (4) and Jason Kelly (1) saw the Harden Hornets to the score of 7 wickets for 160.
Boorowa's innings got off to comical start when Nathan Anderson's first delivery for the club resulted in his pants falling down while in his delivery stride.
"Pants-down Anderson" was unfazed by the event and delivered a fast swinging delivery on the stumps. Anderson and Jeff Brown bowled accurately to openers Bryon Campbell and Brendan Sheen and after 11 overs Boorowa were only 16 runs.
Steele made the bowling change and the introduction of Charlie Greer had instant success. A short pitched chin music delivery saw Sheen (15) top edge a catch to Martin Brown, at first slip, with Brown running behind the keeper to accept the chance. Greer then followed up by bowling Campbell for 7.
Brad Rose (9), who looks like a class batsmen, was next to go when bowled by a slower delivery from James Woodhead. All Woodhead's deliveries were slow with an old timer commenting that the batsmen had enough time to catch the last bus from Albury St and then still hit it.
Stuart Gay (5) came and went after a catch stuck in the big mitts of Jason Kelly off Jack Glover. Kelly ('the Tiger') is a great fielding addition for the Hornets as he prowled all day around the square leg region.
Everybody was given a bowl with Jaydon Steele being annoyed that the umpire, and his teacher 'Mr Sheen', not giving out a LBW appeal. Sheen will have some explaining to do at school on Monday after replays showed the batsman plumb. Boorowa finally out for 94. Best with the ball for Harden were Jack Glover 2 for 4, James Woodhead 2 for 6 and Charlie Greer 2 for 12.
