This event was rescheduled from last month.
While the warmth of the day was fine, the winds blew a gale and wreaked havoc on some scores.
However, other players made the most of the drier course conditions.
One lady who profited from good course craft despite the three-club wind forces was Pat Walker.
Walker returned to the judges with an admirable day's tally, four whole shots better than her handicap for a 70 nett.
She finished first by an impressive three shots from Marj Manwaring, who also beat her handicap on the day out to claim a ball.
Manwaring was also the winner of the Bendigo Bank nearest the pin.
CLUB TROPHY
Harden's gents also had an outing in a stroke event for the Medal of Medals event which was played in conjunction with the day's play.
As with the ladies, gale force winds were great down the breeze, but upwind and uphill were a terrible mix for most.
Not so Craig Henman who brought home another one of his out of the box scores.
Henman shot 78 from his position as a 15-handicapper, giving him a classic haul of 63 shots nett.
That's a whopping eight shots better than his handicap, more than halving his total deductible for the day.
Henman claimed the day's event comfortably and lost a whole shot off his handicap for his stellar work.
Finishing runner-up on the day after putting in another impressive result to claim the first of the balls in the ball comp was Ron Kerr, who also shot well under his handicap for a 66 nett.
Shooting five shots better than your handicap and only claiming a ball seems rough.
However, the course is very close to summer mode and anything is possible on the day.
The next balls went to Tam Kennedy with a 68 nett and Craig Filmer with a 69 nett.
The Bendigo Bank hole in one did not go off, but Kevin hit the green and lobbed it a mere 1.93m from the pin to claim the ball.
Apparently, he left the ball short on his birdie putt.
NEXT WEEK
Harden's gents will be competing for a club stableford, while the ladies will be in their comp for a stableford.
Good luck to members Tam Kennedy and Craig Filmer who will be flying the flag for Harden at Mollymook Hilltops Course in one of the state qualifying events for the two-person ambrose on Sunday.
