The 14-year-old has been chosen to attend a prestigious training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra later this month.
"When I went to the Nationals, it was my ultimate goal to make it to this development camp." Sam said.
"It is invitational only and for a while, we hadn't heard anything, and I was starting to think I had missed out."
Samantha's mum, Cindy West received the email and when she showed Sam that she had been invited, they were both beside themselves with excitement.
"I was speechless, just so excited." Sam said.
"I couldn't believe I have achieved my goal!"
The National Goalkeeper Development Camp will be held over three days; from October 27 to October 30 and Sam will be doing her very best to impress her coaches.
"The trainers have seen us in game situations and now want to see us in training situations; how hard we work and our work ethic." Sam said.
"If I impress them, from here, it could maybe lead to a potential trial for the Junior Matildas."
The camp is not seen as part of the selection process, but rather as a development camp, allowing identified talented young players to train with top Australian coach, Tony Frankin, Goalkeeper/Coach of the Australian Senior and Olympic National teams.
Sam was chosen to take part in this camp from her performance at the National Tournament in Coffs Harbour in July. Only a handful of young players are invited to attend, so it is a very real honour to be chosen.
"If I work really hard at the camp and impress the coaches, there may be further trials offered to me." Sam said.
"It is honestly such a privilege to work with coaches of this calibre"
Sam's long-term goal is to attend a University in the USA and play for a team over there.
"My short term goal, however, is to impress the coaches at this camp and just enjoy being there and learning as much as I can." Sam said.
