Take 5 is a series of free concerts performed each Friday by local and visiting artists.
The concerts have been running for just over two years.
The concerts do not rely on funding.
The Take 5 concerts have drawn over 2000 extra visits to the library in Young and have showcased the talents of more than 250 performers.
I congratulate the staff involved in this initiative and congratulate them on the success.
FOOD AND WINE
The Hilltops Region Food and Wine Weekend is just around the corner.
Events include the annual Hilltops Wine Dinner, Hilltops Feast Pop Up Restaurant, Foodies Night Market and the Cherry Blossom Long Lazy Lunch.
For more information about any of these events, phone the Visitor Information Centre on 1800 628 233.
On Sunday, I will officially open the Young Show.
Regional Shows are very important to regional communities, especially in times of drought. Well done to the committee for its hard work in revamping the show and ensuring its continued success into the future.
ELECTION
The mayoral election will take place at the council meeting being held on September 25.
I would like to take this opportunity to let the community know that I will be running for the position of mayor again.
Much has been achieved since the amalgamation and I would like to continue my contribution as mayor with the current Hilltops Council.
