Not happy with cleaning up the NSW Keno Two-Man Ambrose qualifier six weeks ago, Tam Kennedy has again carried Craig Filmer to a win in the prestigious Poole & Jones Memorial Day.

Kennedy has now taken this event in both stableford and the new ambrose format. Hosts Tom Poole and Andrew Jones are known for being weapons on and off the course, and their sponsorship proved to be worth every cent of the admission fee to compete.
Kennedy and Filmer recorded four under off the stick (three birdies and a bogey on each nine) for 60.25 nett. They got their name engraved in the most valuable silverware, a glass mug and a take-away bottle of goodies. Both got to wear a perpetual blazer during their celebratory drink.
SOLAH WINS
The club's service attendant and rusted-on new golfer Jacqui Solah claimed her first title in last week's midweek comp. She knocked out a rock-solid 28 stableford points around the 12-hole, par 24 point layout. This is a great reward for Solah, who since finding golf has applied herself wholeheartedly to the task.
Recording a round four shots better than her assigned handicap means she will suffer her first handicap reduction, dropping four shots to resume on 26. Solah edged out David James by finishing slightly stronger, so he claimed second and escaped any reduction.
LADIES STARTERS
The scribe misplaced his notes from Mrs Manwaring last week, so a catch up on the starters group of keen Tuesday ladies is in order.
The notable round for the previous week was brought in by Cathie Sanderson, who returned to the scorers' hut with a fantastic 37 nett, or 1 under her handicap for the front nine. Sanderson was closely followed by Suzie Stevens, who was from all accounts breathing right down Sanderson's neck with the scoring.
Last week, and maybe a sign of what was to come with midweek comp, Jacqui Solah brought the round of the week in with a 35 nett, or three below her handicap.
THIS WEEK
This week's Saturday men's golf is the Brian Wales September Monthly Medal and Guzzlers Mug. The Eclectic is still running and medals still count toward the year-long Kruger Perpetual Trophies.
Ladies Saturday golf will comprise a stableford day out for a club trophy. A reminder also that the Binalong Tournament is also listed for Saturday. Starter group ladies is on Tuesday and those keen should get in touch with Marj Manwaring.
Midweek golf for all keen hits off around lunch time on Wednesday and Friday, or grab a card at the bar and form your own group.
