"I spoke with Dad on Wednesday morning, and everything is fine." son Brendan McKay said. "The had an issue with some fuel they picked up between Port Fairy and Mount Gambier on their first day, but everything has been running smoothly since then."
Mr McKay said that Ken was taking his turn driving the accompanying Pantech truck on Wednesday, but is used to driving trucks and that it is 'all part of the deal'.
The team is expected to leave Eucla on Thursday evening after completing the treck from Ceduna. Each leg of the trip is timed and there are fines for speeding.
They will take a rest on Sunday, August 11, before they take off again on Monday, this time heading to Geraldton, Broome, Katherine and arriving in Darwin on Sunday, August 18 for their next two day rest.
