Mr Cooper said he decided to take part in the charity event after he was approached by Can Assist President, Carol Barker.
"Carol came into my work and said 'Rodney, we need some flair!' and I agreed on the spot." Mr Cooper said.
"Seriously though, Can Assist have helped my family and many other families locally when they have been going through what can be the worst time of their lives.They are a great organisation and a great group of people."
Mr Cooper said that although he has not done a lot of dancing in the past, he is enjoying learning the routines with his dance partner, Caron Cantrill.
"I am loving the process, it is a lot of fun. Mr Cooper said.
"What can I say? Todd McKenney is my hero."

New mum of two Caron Cantill has taken on a dual roll in more ways than one at the present; not only is she dancing with Mr Cooper, she is also coaching another 'DWTL' couple.
"I have always loved to dance," Ms Cantrill said.

"I am loving getting back into dancing. DWTL is a great community event to be involved in, Can Assist does such great work in our community."
"Coaching and dancing is keeping my busy, I just have to remember whose routine I am working on so I don't confuse everyone."
The seven couples who are taking part in 'Dancing with the Locals' are judged not only on their dance moves, but by the amount of money they raise for Can Assist. Get behind your favourite couple by dropping some money into their donation boxes:

Dancing with the Locals will be held on Friday and Saturday, August 16 and 17. Tickets are sold out for the Saturday night, but will be available for the Friday evening from Cooper's Choice Cut Butchery from July 1. Come on down and show your support for our local dancers and a great cause.
