The Hawks got off to a flying start with a try from Jonathon Pouono converted by Hamish Bradford.
Another great try from Michael West from a cross field kick was the Hawks lead 10 to 0. A couple of missed opportunities from the Hawks could have seen a much bigger lead.
A great try from Ben Davis hitting a hole on the stroke of halftime saw the score at 16 to 0 at the break.
The second half saw the game swing from end to end and was becoming a war of attrition with many injuries.
Harden were unlucky not to have a try awarded with a great charge down and offload from Chris Fredericks, which saw the ball go through many hands to lead to a try.
After much deliberation from the referee, it was denied because of a forward pass.
Bungendore, to their credit, rallied and piled on 18 unanswered points to lead 18 to 16 in the final eight minutes.
The Hawks had several chances, but were denied them by some strong defence.
Bungendore scored a try right on the siren, to run out winners 24 to 16.
Best players for the Hawks were Jordan Hammond, Chris Fredericks and Luke Brown.
This week, the Hawks will look to bounce back, playing the UC Grizzlies in Canberra on Saturday.
Harden Boorowa Under 16's
The Harden Boorowa Under 16's took on Woden Weston in Canberra and were convincing winners, with a score of 56 to 10. This win puts them firmly in the top five.
This weekend they play competition leaders Valley Dragons at McLean Oval in Harden,on Friday night, starting at 6.30pm.
Harden Boorowa Under 19's
The Harden Boorowa Under 19's took on the Crookwell Green Devils and won 36 to 20 in a very solid performance.
This weekend the boys will have a well deserved rest as they have a BYE, before taking on the North Canberra Bears at Jamison Oval on Saturday, June 1, at 12.00pm.
