The last of Harden Golf Club's backed summer stablefords was played last Saturday in at times blustery north-easterly winds.

This saw only two of our field play better than their handicaps and the ball comp extending back to 35 points or 1 over players' handicaps.
Generally, just a tough day out, despite being the start of some beautiful autumn weather.
Kevin Hoppe proved he is resilient enough, scoring the winning 38 points in just 17 holes, bringing home a wipe on the last that would have more easily sealed the fate of the field with even so much as a 1 pointer.
Kevin scrambled well all day, with his trusty driver blocking out right most of the day, and some brilliant bump and run and recovery action seeing Kevin still score well.
As stated, the ball comp went back to 35 points and started with Mr Consistent of the moment, Ron Kerr on 37 points. Tom Poole, with his special hybridised designed golf shoes last week, was in the balls at 36 points, as too was Mark Parker on 35 points, and John Brownhill on 35 points.
Our hole in one was not threatened this week. Kevin Hoppe took the ball for nearest the pin at 5.5m.
Kerr Wins Again
Not happy with last week's win, Ron Kerr has decided to make a welter of it and has returned again to the winner's circle on the midweek, 12 hole layout.
Ron has again done it in style and broken by a mere 1 shot, shooting 25 points around the par 24 point layout. That shot has been deducted and sees Ron still very competitive for next week on a new handicap of 10.
Herby Manwaring claimed second place on 23 points from his dear wife Marj who had 22 points. Almost half the field was then back on 20 points in a low-scoring but compelling battle. Our mystery ball draw this week went to Ian Bruce.
Are You Financial?
January has long passed, as has February for grace. At this week’s event, golfers not yet financial will be directed to the bar to pay their memberships, or they will sit out the commencement of this season proper. We are a club, and to be part of the club we all must be paid members to enjoy the privileges the club puts on for us. Hop to it, boys and girls.
This week
The regular season now kicks off for the members this Saturday. The men will be playing for the Nathan Schofield Carpentry Trophy, Monthly Medal and Guzzlers Mug. This Saturday also sees the start of this year’s eclectic.
