SATURDAY was a lovely early summer’s day with a hint of a breeze that kept the temperature at bay.

Perfect golf weather really.
Perfect enough for one Darrell Cassidy to finally record a victory after being thereabouts for most of the last two months.
Cassidy seems to have been runner-up or top five for at least October and November, so it is finally good to see him get a chance to smash that inflated handicap somewhat.
Cassidy has shot a round five whole strokes better than his handicap to record 41 stableford points, and claim the Harden Country Club Trophy.
Off feeding dogs or pursuing his lifelong passion of mowers and cut grass, Cassidy was not there to receive his voucher, yet no doubt he will put it to good use this Saturday.
He edged out Ronnie Page who left a few on course, but still headed up the ball comp on 40 points as runner-up.
The other balls in the comp went to Ron Kerr (39), Rick Preston (38) and Robert bates (38).
The Bendigo Bank Hole in One did not go off this week, yet old chicken legs Ian Bruce (did you see those shorts) knocked a great ball in to 3.96m to claim nearest the pin honours.

David James is Midweek head burglar: Our band of midweekers has built in numbers again with 17 turning out to face the starter last week on the course.
Head of the pops this week was David James who shot a handsome 31 points or seven shots better than his handicap around the 12 hole, par 24 point midweek layout.
James has received the full weight of the guillotine to his handicap, losing all seven shots and now he will recommence duties on a significantly lighter handicap of four. Ouch!
In runners up position was Peter Steinke and ooooops by the way David James on his round number two at a combined 27 points. No fluke I see.
Tied fourth went to Bill Kildea, Ian Bruce and Peter Orr with an even par round.
The latter trifecta could not attract a price at the Harden Picnics, let alone be on the same line at golf.
Our mystery mathematician organised crazy random ball draw, went to Ron Kerr this week.
