WHILE it was only a summer club sponsored stableford, the rest of the field battled to control the course and several were in the club at 38 to 39 points, wondering when the countback was to begin.

In came the final group and lo and behold, the Hawaiian shirt wonder brought home a score to blitz the field.
John Brownhill has decimated the field with a whopping 42 points to be at least three whole shots clear of the field.
Apparently it could have been more. On the 18th John has hit the cup second bounce to almost hole in one, leaving his pill a mere 30cm on the top side.
This was all too much for John and he missed what could have made his round 43 points or more, tsk tsk. Nice hand-brake.
It did not matter too much as John saluted the handicapper and said a fond farewell to two whole handicap points for his round. .
Balls on the day went to Darrell Cassidy on 39 points, Ian Bruce, 38, Brian Wales, 37, and Kevin Hoppe, 36.
The Bendigo Bank Hole in One just seems a long way away at the moment. Our nearest the pins are getting almost off the green in length. This week Ian Bruce claimed the extra ball at six metres. Was it in the bunker Ian, at that distance?

CONTINUING our recent trend, Billy Kildea has taken first place and also second place for his two outings in the midweek 12-hole competition.
Billy’s winning score was a modest 27 points which only gave his handicap a gentle tickle by removing three shots and taking him back to 13.5 for this week.
Still quite a workable handicap for this wily champion. The back-up round of 26 points did not have to count for Bill – thankfully he says.
Third place is Billy’s old mate David James with 25 points, making it literally a cart trifecta around the 12-hole par 24 point layout.
The mystery ball winner this week was Ron Kerr who is winning everything of late.
Claim the date: Our trophies are with the companies who produce, engrave and stitch them and even though illness, storm and tempest and everything else have beset these good people, we are trying our hardest to have a presentation on Saturday, November. 24 It will be a summer medley stableford.
