The day was brought to us by the Country Club for the day’s trophy.
Hot weather means a return to hot scoring and Saturday was a great case in point.
The last ball went to 68 nett or three better than your handicap, so when you come to play one needs to bring their A-game at present, be that in classic tee to green golf, or scrambling.
Our medal winners both shot 66 netts to claim their respective grades.
B medal winner, B scratch winner, event winner and holder of the mug for this month was Ron Kerr who had a great day out with 85 off the stick for his 66 nett.
This great round from Kerr will most likely salute the handicapper, but was fantastic to see from a guy who is there week in and week out plundering the course.
Our A grade medal winner and dipping out on the day’s trophy on a countback, was Tam Kennedy.
Kennedy was saying how his game was starting to head south again last week, but has found something in the bag of tricks on Saturday to renew his faith.
A Grade scratch winner on a countback went to Darrell Cassidy with eight over par 79 off the stick.
Balls, as was said, went to 68 on a countback and were rewarded to Kennedy (66), Ashley Hall (68), Michael Baldry (68), and Darrell Cassidy (68).
Our Bendigo Bank Hole in One did not go off but the nearest the pin at 6.13m went to the same bloke who picked up the lucky card draw for the box of brown sandwiches – Rick Preston.

PRESENTATION: Just a quick note again that contrary to the program, this week will NOT see our presentation afternoon as all the gongs and prizes have not been finalized with suppliers yet. I will try to give two weeks’ notice in the column so we can bring a plate, enjoy our champions’ successes, tell some war stories from 2018 and while away the evening. Watch this space.
THIS WEEK: We now venture into the summer bracket of our program and our season of stablefords. Gents and ladies are welcome from Lunch on Saturday’s to tee off for a Club trophy.
