WHILE our golf field was weakened by a very popular Picnic Day, the competition was just as tight on the Links as it was at the track.

The gents played a stableford event for a Club Trophy and the drier conditions are resulting in shot making being tough and scrambling to get a result, at a premium.
Michael Baldry has come out with a front nine for the ages shooting 23 points around the starting back nine.
Upon changing direction and heading east for his second nine holes, the back axle and a few cotter pins flew off, yet Baldry held it together with just enough to limp up the home straight, putting his nose in front with 39 points.
Baldry claimed the voucher and finished a mere point in front of equal seconds on 38 points.
Our ball competition was paid to the equal seconds on 38 points with Kevin Hoppe and Ron Kerr claiming the eggs.
On our Bendigo Bank Hole in One Hole, a beautiful shot almost claimed the big prize, when Ron Kerr dropped one in to 30cm.
Must have looked a peach from the tee. I trust the putt was made and 2/4 taken by Mr Kerr.

COMING from the clouds and not getting many mentions in recent weeks, Jim Wright has belted down the home straight and streeted field in last week’s Midweek Competition.
Jim has recorded seven shots better than his handicap for a 31 stableford point result around the par 24, 12 hole layout.
Jim has saluted the judges and for his bold deeds has been rewarded with a deduction of seven shots from his handicap.
Jim’s new handicap will be a mere 15 shots when play resumes this week.
Assuming the new mantle as perpetual bridesmaid, Peter Steinke has again returned a score putting him in second, two shots adrift of Jim on 29 points.
David James resumed duties and fresh up after a spell has recorded two better than his handicap with 26 points, for third.
Our mystery ball draw went to Ron Fuller Snr this week.
Must have looked a peach from the tee.
Players are reminded that due to the change of season being upon us, the regular Wednesday and Friday crews will be switching to 8am starts, beginning on November 7.
THIS WEEK
MIDWEEK golf will be at normal times this last week on Wednesday and Friday.
Saturday will see our November Medal played for with a Harden Country Club voucher on offer as well as the Guzzlers Mug.
This may be your last week for the eclectic also, being a good chance to wipe that last bogey off or record your first eagle to shoot to the lead.
