Newly appointed HRDC Chief Operating Officer, Tony Holland is on a mission. He is determined to see the Harden Murrumburrah community reach its full development potential and is asking for the community’s help to do so.

“I have only been in town for a short time, but the feedback I have been given is that the community doesn’t really know what the HRDC (Harden Regional Development Corporation) does, or what it’s purpose is.” Mr Holland said.
“I am all about democracy and inclusion; HRDC is no ‘secret society’ where only the privileged few get to know what is going on.”
Mr Holland has a background in small government, working to develop business, employment and housing growth within rural and remote communities.
“I am passionate about welfare and health issues, and am committed to see that Harden Murrumburrah has services that are close to, if not equal to services that are available in the city.” Mr Holland said.
“But firstly, we need to encourage people to the area by making employment opportunities a focus.”
Mr Holland said he would like to see as many local people apply for membership to the HRDC as possible.
“Again I say, I am all about democracy. We need local people having a say about the development of their community.” Mr Holland said.
“I am hoping that community members will always feel like they can drop into the HRDC shopfront on Neill street and have a chat with me about any issues they are having, or ideas about the development of the community.”
Mr Holland said he believes that Harden Murrumburrah is in an ideal position for development and growth.
“Geographically speaking, Harden is the perfect place, close to the Hume Highway, an easy trip to Canberra, Sydney or Melbourne and on the main railway line. We have the potential to be a thriving business hub and community.” Mr Holland said.
“I am very solution focussed, not one to listen to why things can’t happen, I want to know how to make them happen, and with the support and guidance of the HRDC committee and community members, nothing can stop us.”
