Last week we held our monthly meeting of council. Councillor Tony Wallace was re-elected as deputy mayor. I congratulate Tony and was moved by his words; encouraging us to move forward as one united region and his commitment to further that aim and I look forward to continuing to work with him.

I was happy to receive news that we were successful in being awarded a grant from the Heritage Near Me fund for the revitalisation of Carrington Park. Council is hosting a project workshop on Monday from 4pm to 6pm at the Young Office to discuss the restoration of the Band Rotunda and White Monument in the Park. All are welcome and invited to attend.
Council are currently calling for expressions of interest from community members for the Murrumburrah Flood Study - Floodplain Management Committee. Positions are available for two community members and one business owner to provide input into the Murrumburrah Flood Study, particularly historical evidence (photos etc) for flooding in the area. The flood study aims to understand the flood risk in the Murrumburrah township and investigate a range of potential floodplain management measures with community involvement. Please forward expressions of interest to mail@hilltops.nsw.gov.au with an outline of your interest and/or experience by Wednesday, October 17.
I would like to congratulate everyone involved in the 2018 Boorowa Irish Woolfest over the weekend. Unfortunately, illness prevented me from attending the event as planned but from all accounts I have heard it was a great success. Special thanks to Member for Goulburn Pru Goward and Eamonn Robinson, Deputy Head of Mission, The Embassy of Ireland in Canberra.
