Saving his best for when he can have the most impact has been Ronnie Page.
Ron was in a good frame of mind last Saturday and effortlessly pulled out 41 stableford points with some solid driving and putting.
This result saw Ron play five shots better than his over inflated handicap, and hopefully knocked that 19th shot off his deductible number. Ron even showed some flare with a birdies among his fine scoring.
Balls went back to players who played to their handicap this week. The wind and run now starting to play a bit of havoc on the golfers who love still conditions and fluffy lies.
Kevin Hoppe led out the ball comp finishing runner-up and two shots back of Ronnie on 39 stableford points. Balls also went to Michael Baldry (38), Ron Kerr (36) and John Browwnhill (36). Our Bendigo Bank Hole in One did not go off but the nearest the pin was awarded to Brian Wales at 6.5m.
MIDWEEK: With 17 players facing the starter this week on the regular Wednesday and Friday groups of midweek golfers, our victor this week beating his handicap by only a mere eight shots was Ron Fuller Snr. Ron has shot 32 points around the 12 hole, 24 point par layout.
Ron has done himself a favour but no others. Ron wins the comp and the goodies bag, but in the process has lost all eight shots he beat his handicap by. He will resume duties this week on a mere 13.5.
The other scores include a fast finishing Peter Steinke with 30 points or six better than his meagre handicap. Ron Kerr, Marj Manwaring and Herb Manwaring all tied for third with 27, beating their handicaps by three. This week should prove interesting as to who is in line to be next head midweek burglar.
THIS WEEK: This week the Regional Ladies annual South West Tournament is on at Temora. For any of the Harden Ladies making the trek, we wish you every success.
Locally, the Annual Peter Davis Memorial Fundraiser Golf Tournament is on Saturday. Time sheets at the bar and numbers are flooding in. It is a two person ambrose with the course catered for food and drinks, great prizes and the Davis clan making sure the event is enjoyed by all, as they always do. The event honours former Men’s Golf President and local icon Peter Davis, raising funds for a charity each year. This year I believe the recipient is the very worthy CanAssist.
Grab a partner and head on down, I am sure you will have a fun day.
