The SWSSA competition wrapped up for most teams on the weekend, but for Harden's 14/15 SFM Spreading side, they have this week to prepare themselves for Saturday's Grand Final, to be played at Temora. Despite going down to their grand Final opponents at Harden on Saturday, SFM Spreading managed to maintain their top position on the ladder and secure their spot in the final.

The Harden Bearings and Hardware U/6’s faced some stiff competition from Cootamundra with a fairly evenly matched contest. The Harden kids were a little slow out of the blocks early but it didn’t take long for them to find their rhythm scoring some great team goals. What a huge improvement they have all shown this season and its great to see the kids having fun and really enjoying themselves learning the game of soccer.
The Bendigo Bank U/9’s were again entertaining to watch. They are a totally different team now then they were at the start of the year showing all the skills that they have learnt throughout the season. Well done kids on a great team effort and a very successful season.
The Harden Country Club 10 / 11 side wrapped up their season with a solid hit out against Coota White. The Harden side piled on the goals in a 7 - 0 win. This team bristles with talent, many of whom are more than eager, and certainly ready, to be elevated to the large field and competitive soccer next year, where they will make a formidable team.
Peter Stone's 12 / 13 Coopers Butchery team have grown all season, and despite going down 7 - 1 to the ladder leaders, fought well for the entire game, as they have all season. Finishing fourth on the competition ladder, this team has a lot of potential for next year.
All eyes were on the three 14 /15 clashes, with the top 3 teams playing on the day. Needing SFM Spreading to defeat Coota White to keep them alive, the Lubealloy 14 / 15 side could only watch on helplessly as Coota overpowered a scratchy SFM, and with the 3 - 5 loss, their finals hopes evaporated. However, with their season now gone, Lubealloy showed SFM just how to beat Coota with a gutsy 2 - 1 win. Lubealloy's patience and ball control proved to themselves and the spectators just how unlucky they are to have missed out on a final berth.
With the finals spots now sorted, the match between the two Harden sides was played in great spirits. Whilst it was a 5 - 3 win for Phil Webster's Lubealloy team, the matched developed into a training run, as the two teams exchanged goals, friendly insults, and even some players towards the end! It was a great way for both teams to end the regular season.
Which leaves SFM Spreading to head to Temora on Saturday. With two Coota teams battling it out in the 12 / 13 age group, it will be up to the Harden team to prevent a Coota clean sweep of the finals. Harden have showed all year that they have what it takes to get the job done on Saturday, yet their form has been far from consistent at times. They will look to the dominance of Mitchell Brown and Xavier Vasquez, who will be playing his last Junior soccer match for Harden. The speed of Melmar Coboral, Miguel Whittington and Corey Doohan will be vital. Jasmin Chesworth never disappoints in the mid field, where her strength on the ball and determination have left plenty of her much bigger rivals scratching their heads. Elden Rowan adds strength to the backline, and his keeness to go looking for work adds an extra dimension in attack, while on the other side, Liam Ryan does likewise, his work rate always impressing. Hayley Chesworth has been solid in the backline for years now, and Riverina Representative Sam Emms is oustanding as first choice goalie and equally at home on the field. A sustained team effort from the opening whistle will give the Harden SFM Spreading team a solid chance at taking home the trophy on Saturday. The game commences at 11.30 at Temora
