Whilst suffering a depleted field, the competition was quite strong with long-time pairing and good friends Ev Shea and Maryanne Fitzgerald proving too strong for the field.
Ev and Maryanne have brought home a very tidy score that would have seen them victorious with a 183 comprising an 84 and an 89 in this arduous format of the game where no mistakes can be hidden.
Winner in the nett or handicap stakes went to Marj Manwaring and Pat Walker who brought in a score only six above their handicap across the two days.
These ladies did enough also to bring home the nett result on both days to secure each of the daily events.

The men’s championships are at the half-way mark and two days of intense competition by good fields have come to pass, and whilst some positions look clear, others show that the battle will be on this weekend with many ups and downs still to be had.
- In A Grade, Ben Glover leads the way after two very strong rounds on 150 total shots through two rounds, eight shots clear of Darrell Cassidy who brought home a far better day two to remain in contention.
- In B Grade Peter Steinke is leading the way on 164 total shots after two days, only two shots clear of Craig Filmer and a further four shots back to Brett Johnson.
- In C Grade Michael Baldry leads the way on 186 total shots after day two, only two shots ahead of Tim Beveridge on 188.
Jack Glover is leading the way with two solid rounds in the Junior Division yet still left many shots out on the greens, and the Veterans’ race has only half a dozen shots in it between Darrell Cassidy, Peter Steinke and Tam Kennedy.
The McLean Gold Cup is even tighter for the best nett result overall. Darrell Cassidy and Craig Filmer are leading on 137 nett whilst Peter Steinke is breathing down their neck only one shot after handicap behind.
