Patinkin is a star of the hit television series Homeland and is well known for his role in the crime series Criminal Minds as well as his portrayal of Inigo Montoya in the 1987 movie The Princess Bride.
His biography also boasts lead roles in eclectic films such as Yentl, Ragtime, Impromptu, The Adventures of Elmo In Grouchland, Men with Guns, The Music of Chance, Daniel, The Doctor, Alien Nation, Dick Tracy and True Colors.
Patinkin has been described as “a classically trained but barely restrained stage actor. A no-holds-barred concert singer and a scene-stealing star of the big and small screens.”
His stage performances are legendary, from his 1980 Broadway debut as Che in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita which won him a Tony Award, and his Tony Award-nominated starring role as George in the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, Sunday in the Park with George in 1984, to his later stage credits in The Wild Party, Falsettos, The Secret Garden, The Winter's Tale, Hamlet and Savages.
Reviewers of his shows describe him as one of the most distinctive and talented performers working today and one of the most versatile and compelling actors, singers and storytellers of our age.
Patinkin’s Australian show will include songs from Randy Newman, Stephen Sondheim, Irving Berlin and Rufus Wainwright.
